The AI-200 (Azure AI Cloud Engineer Associate) is designed for technical professionals who build, manage, and scale AI solutions. While the AI-102 focuses on "consuming" pre-built models, the AI-200 is for engineers who orchestrate complex AI systems, manage AI infrastructure, and implement agentic workflows. There are no mandatory prerequisites, but Microsoft strongly recommends having the Azure Administrator (AZ-104) foundation and proficiency in Python or C#.
The exam typically consists of 40–60 questions, and you are given 120 minutes to complete it. You should expect a high-intensity mix of multiple-choice questions, drag-and-drop tasks for workflow orchestration, and case studies that require you to design an end-to-end AI architecture. Because this is a "Cloud Engineer" exam, you may also encounter performance-based labs where you must configure resources in the Azure portal.
