FAQ
The CCDV-F exam consists of 53 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions with 120 minutes of testing time. The total seat time is approximately 135 minutes, including check-in, ID verification, and instructions. Each question specifies how many answers to select. The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE, either online proctored or at a testing center.
The passing score is 720 on a scaled range of 100 to 1,000. A scaled score of 720 does not equal 72% of questions correct; Anthropic does not publish a raw-score conversion. The exam fee is $125 USD before any partner-tier discount. Claude Partner Network organizations may receive a discount depending on partner tier. The certification is valid for 12 months from the award date, with a free non-proctored renewal assessment available through the Partner Academy before expiry.
The exam covers eight domains, measured as of Blueprint v1.0, effective July 2026:
| Domain | Weight |
|---|---|
| Applications and Integration | 33.1% |
| Model Selection and Optimization | 16.8% |
| Agents and Workflows | 14.7% |
| Prompt and Context Engineering | 11.0% |
| Tools and MCPs | 10.6% |
| Security and Safety | 8.1% |
| Claude Code | 3.1% |
| Eval, Testing, and Debugging | 2.6% |
Applications and Integration is the dominant domain at 33.1%, covering the Messages API, streaming, files, batching, error handling, and SDKs. Claude Code and Eval together represent under 6% of the exam. Do not over-prepare them because they feel familiar.
CCDV-F is designed for technical professionals who build and ship LLM-based systems: AI/ML engineers, technical leads, and senior software engineers working between business requirements and implementation. It is not intended for non-technical users or roles limited to prompt writing alone.
There are no mandatory prerequisites. The exam guide recommends, but does not require: one to five years of software engineering experience, at least six months of hands-on experience with Claude or comparable LLM systems, proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, and fluency with REST APIs and CLI tools.
Registration is gated. Candidates generally need to be employed by an organization participating in the Claude Partner Network and use a recognized company-domain email address. Personal email addresses cannot be used. CCDV-F counts toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility.
The certification is valid for 12 months from the award date. Anthropic currently offers a free non-proctored renewal assessment through the Partner Academy if completed before the 12-month expiry. If the certification lapses, candidates generally must re-sit the full proctored exam and pay the fee again.
If you do not pass, you must wait 14 days after a first failed attempt, 30 days after a second, and 90 days after a third. Candidates are limited to four attempts per exam in a rolling 12-month period. Each attempt requires full payment of the exam fee.
CCDV-F validates that you can build, integrate, and ship production-grade applications and agents on the Claude platform. It strengthens candidacy for Claude Developer, AI Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Technical Lead roles. The credential counts toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility, making it valuable for organizations building and maintaining partner status.
CCDV-F is a foundations-level credential on the Developer track. For professionals seeking deeper specialization:
| Certification | Focus |
|---|---|
| Claude Certified Architect – Foundations (CCAR-F) | Solution architecture, agentic systems, integration design |
| Claude Certified Architect – Professional (CCAR-P) | Enterprise-scale architecture, governance, and evaluation |
