FAQ
The CCAR-P exam consists of 63 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions with 120 minutes of testing time. The total seat time is approximately 135 minutes, including check-in, ID verification, and instructions. Each question states how many answers to select. The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE, either online proctored or at a testing center.
The passing score is 720 on a scaled range of 100 to 1,000. A scaled score of 720 does not mean 72% of questions correct; Anthropic does not publish a raw-score conversion. The exam fee is $175 USD, paid to Anthropic. Claude Partner Network organizations may receive a discount depending on partner tier. The certification is valid for 12 months from the award date, with a free non-proctored renewal assessment available before expiry.
The exam covers seven domains, measured as of Blueprint v1.0, effective July 2026:
| Domain | Weight |
|---|---|
| Integration | 19% |
| Solution Design and Architecture | 17% |
| Evaluation, Testing and Optimization | 16% |
| Governance, Safety and Risk Management | 14% |
| Stakeholder Communication and Lifecycle Management | 14% |
| Claude Models, Prompting and Context Engineering | 13% |
| Developer Productivity and Operational Enablement | 7% |
Integration is the heaviest domain at 19%, covering tool design, MCP servers, the Agent SDK, first-party tools, and deployment through Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI. Governance and stakeholder communication together represent 28% of the exam, a portion that technical candidates often underestimate.
CCAR-P is an Expert-level exam designed for mid- to senior-level professionals who design and deliver production LLM solutions: solution architects, AI/ML engineers, technical leads, and senior software engineers.
There are no mandatory prerequisites. CCAR-F (Foundations) is not required and does not upgrade into Professional. Anthropic recommends, but does not require: a foundation in software engineering best practices, three or more years in systems architecture or platform engineering, and six or more months of hands-on experience with Claude or comparable LLM systems in production.
Registration is gated. Candidates generally need to be employed by an organization participating in the Claude Partner Network, have access to the Anthropic Partner Academy, and use a recognized company-domain email address. Personal email addresses cannot be used. CCAR-P counts toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility.
The certification is valid for 12 months from the award date. Anthropic currently offers a free non-proctored renewal assessment through the Partner Academy if completed before the 12-month expiry. If the certification lapses, candidates generally must re-sit the full proctored exam and pay the fee again.
If you do not pass, you must wait 14 days after a first failed attempt, 30 days after a second, and 90 days after a third. Candidates are limited to four attempts per exam in a rolling 12-month period. Reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before the appointment.
CCAR-P validates that you can design and govern Claude solutions at enterprise scale. It strengthens candidacy for Senior Solutions Architect, AI Architect, Staff-Level Software Engineer, and Platform Lead roles. The credential counts toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility, making it valuable for organisations building and maintaining partner status.
CCAR-P is currently the highest-level Claude certification. There is no higher tier on the Architect track. For professionals seeking broader coverage, complementary credentials include:
| Certification | Focus |
|---|---|
| Claude Certified Developer – Foundations (CCDV-F) | Developer-focused Claude API and tooling |
| Claude Certified Associate – Foundations (CCAO-F) | Business and knowledge worker AI productivity |
